random~

totally love this movie!

New York II

Day 6 (27/7/07)
Today’s the 6th day already and I’m still in NY. To think I initially only planned to stay here in NY for 3 or 4 days. Now I’m gonna be stuck here for 1 more week cuz China Airlines doesn’t have any seats available for me.

So currently my plan is..
3rd August (4th August Singapore time) : Fly to Taipei
13th August : Home Sweet Home, back to Singapore

Finally went to visit MOMA and watched Harry Potter today. Well, was quite disappointed with MOMA. It wasn’t as fantastic as I expected. Maybe I just had too high an expectation for it.

this artist is gd though. i really like his work. *so simple yet so real and meaningful
Day 7 (28/7/07)
Today’s Coney Island day! Heh! Well not exactly the whole day since I only managed to wake up at 2.30pm =X went to stroll a lil on the much-too-crowded beach. Felt good though. With the sea breeze, soft sand and cool water =) suddenly I miss those good-old-jjcians-sentosa-trips.
But yesterday night was the exciting one. Me and Auntie decided to go to the supermarket at 2am in the morning and I bought like 3 pints of B&J ice cream back! Hahah they were just too cheap to resist! $1.99 ONLY!!! Shioks! *slurp* okays, here comes more bui bahhhh~*

totally love kids! =D

this is specially for chenahshu! paiseh huh, i only managed to sneak a shot of this lifeguard. abit skinny but still can make it lah. HAHAHA

i chanced upon this outdoor party at Coney Island. this is so cool! well, it isnt really a party, just some ppl playing music and ppl started dancing ard it. (not a very nice pic taken though, cant really see...)

Day 8 (29/7/07)
didnt managed to go anywhere today cuz of the stupid sudden downpour. Well, I did go somewhere..the subway. I was stuck in the stinky, stuffy, dirty, dark subway station for like 1 hr waiting for a train that wasn’t scheduled on weekends. How smart?! *bish* Initially, I was supposed to meet jf at the museum but due to my smartness and since I was unable to contact him during that 1 hr when I was waiting for the transfer too, I decided to go back home to indulge in my B&J’s ice cream with the rain pattering outside my door. *shiok*

I realized something after many days of taking the subway here. à ¾ of the ppl who take the subway are CRAZY! Sometimes there will be ppl singing to themselves out LOUD. Other times, most will be doing I don’t know what. It just doesn’t seem normal. Well today, a woman began chanting at the top of her voice the moment she stepped into the train right til she reached her stop. That’s like 1hr worth of chanting. I could hear her even with my ear phones on. -_-“ I had actually wanted to take a picture of her but i'm afraid that she would do something crazy to me so..no pictures.

i wonder..

is it better to have it and then lose it later in the end, coupled with so much sorrow
Or..
is it better to not have it at all in the first place?

which is better? i wonder..

New York New York~

trying to past some time while on the plane to New York, hehe

Day 1 (22/7/07)
After 2 super uncomfortable flights, I’m here! New York City! Gonna go stay with Da gu’s fren, Auntie Lily. Auntie is so nice! She went all the way to the airport to look for me and brought me around too. We went to Staten Island, saw the Statue of Liberty and World Trade Center but I was too tired to really appreciate all these. So, nothing much..

I had to force Auntie Lily to take this picture. Look, she still refuses to smile -_-

look how cui the subway is!! i hate the subway!

and this is my room. how shiok! its big!!

Day 2 (23/7/07)
What a day! Spent half the day at home cuz it was pouring non-stop. -_-“ too lazy to go out at all since its quite a distance away from Manhattan. Den I met jianfeng online. Turned out that he just reached New York today. Thus we met in Brooklyn and contemplated to go to Brighton Beach, which is supposed to be nearby but we didn’t managed to get there =( okays, I’m just rambling nonsense. I don’t really know what I’m thinking now anyway

Day 3 (24/7/07)
Supposed to go MOMA today but ended up walking around Rockefella Plaza, Times Square and 5th Ave. Hmmm, I think the place is not as good as ppl say it is. Not that fantastic. Basically nothing much today, just went around shopping. But sad to say, I didn’t buy much. Nothing really appealing to me. =( Oh! We wanted to go watch Harry Potter just now but decided against it again since I have to travel like 1 plus hr to reach home and I don’t think the neighbourhood I live in is exactly safe. So, wait for me Harry Potter! I’ll catch you tml! *sheesh* Gonna go be Auntie Lily’s personal translator tml. HOPEFULLY I can be of some use somehow hahaha. Though I have much doubts about it myself -_-“

i love the architectural styles of the churches!

okays ppl, try to imagine..this IS the Empire State Building (this is the best pic i could take. ESB is just too huge)

and look at the line of ppl waiting to pay to go up ESB -_-

this is Times Square, nothing spectacular though. quite disappointed

Day 4 (25/7/07)
Auntie brought me to a Vietnamese restaurant at Chinatown and I realized one thing. Vietnamese love veg! every dish has like big portions of veg and auntie is like forcing me to eat all the veg! torture meeeee! But I seriously feel super xinfu here. I finally get to eat home-cooked food every day! Delicious home-cooked breakfast and dinner! This is the way man! Getting fatter and fatter by the day…BUIII BAHHHH!! Went to United Nations today. Quite interesting. And now, I finally know what’s UNICEF *cuiiii*

1/10 of the que of ppl waiting to go to ellis island for the statue of liberty
i love this shot (United Nations)

the ever famous bull (there were sooo many ppl waiting to get their pictures taken that i had to wait like 20min before i could steal this shot)

Day 5 (26/7/07)
Finally went to the legendary Central Park today. Well, it indeed is quite interesting although I only saw like a teeny weeny part of the whole park since its so damn big! It would be nice to cycle ard the park but I totally have no idea where to rent a bike from. They even have a theatre inside for frequent performances!

YES bingbing!! SOHO is indeed sooooo cool!!!! I love it! Soooo much shopping to do, sooooooo little money!! Howwwwww?!?!?! Don’t care! I’m definitely gonna go back there again the next few days! HAHHAHA and tap!! while i was shopping, this salesgirl was totally infatuated with my hairstyle. hahaha

Then it was so scary on my way home just now. There’s this guy sitting opposite me in the subway and I’m positive he was drawing my portrait. Initially I was intending to ask him show me the drawing before I leave the subway but then who knows he started following me home. Damn scary lah! I starting running towards home and luckily he disappeared. 0_0

can anyone tell me why there couldnt be any standing on the pavement between these times?

Belvedere Castle in Central Park

this is so pretty! skeleton of a little brown myotis bat

they were performing right smacked in the middle of the financial district!

Finally going to MOMA tml! =D hope it doesnt disappoint me..

San Francisco II

20/7/07 (Fri)
Berkleys is such a disappointment! To think we spent $6.50 and 45min on the BART just to eat Quiznos Sub. -_-" super diao. (although Quiznos sub is really very nice! *slurp* much much nicer than Subway. but Subway's cookies still rock)

Went to EZ5 again. this time, it was much more fun! the music is so much better than last night. i was high even without alcohol. (well, maybe a little alcohol =x)

21/7/07 (Sat)
Its time now to leave SF. to leave Tradewinds Hostel. I had the most enjoyable time here! The ppl here are sooo nice and soooo fun but crazy! its like one big family! From lazing around in the lounge in the afternoons and evenings, clubbing at EZ5, eating late night suppers at 'San He' and bitching in the dorm rooms. awwwww!! i so love these ppl!
Now i'm feeling a little sad. I dont think i would ever see these ppl again. Even those who are working in the hostel. By the time i return to SF again, they might be somewhere else in the world already.
But honestly, i really do admire them. they are able to forget about everything else back at home and follow their dreams, their passion. Most of them are'nt even from USA. they come from afar. although most of them are so damn broke. but they're leaving their life to the fullest everyday! knowing that this is what they wanna do.

i'm still looking for that courage in me...

*EZ5 Bar* this is the night before we are supposed to leave SF and they had a party for us =)

*Pacific Tradewinds Hostel* everyone basically hangouts/slack/stone/talk cock/have fun in the lounge every single day and night!

the sweetest girls =D *christinechenyirou and olgayangchunyu* love them to bits!

Lone Traveller

Day 1 (14th July 07)

Jerrico (aka didi or ah boy) and brian drove me 1st to the greyhound station in LA and then Irene & rus to the airport.
luckily we had them to drive us to our departure venues otherwise I seriously dunno how we’re going to lug ALL our luggage there.

Well, stupid me decided to bring my ultra big backpack up onto the greyhound bus which directly leaves me absolutely NO leg-space at all. Yes, totally no leg-space. I had to sit cross-legged throughout the whole 9hrs. Well, I absolutely did this for a very gd reason. I thought greyhound would charge me for an extra checked baggage (since this is what Las Vegas Greyhound did to us) so I decided to save some money and try to bring my big backpack up. Its obviously a wrong wrong choice! Fortunately, I was lucky enough to meet a nice Filipina who sat sideways in order to give me leg-space. she’s a nice woman, even offered me food and stuff but my stomach was too ill to give me any appetite. (think I might have ate something bad or drank too much tap water) Too bad she’s going to Oakland and not San Francisco.

Day 2 (15th July 07)
Finally reached SF!! I am soooo amazed by myself. I actually managed to lug all my luggage all the way from the greyhound station to the hostel. Well, honestly I really almost died halfway. There’re like SOOOOO many hills and slopes and its like so scary in the wee hours where there’re no normal ppl at all. Only those totally weird homeless ppl EVERYWHERE!! I spent a hard time avoiding them, especially with all my luggage. But well, I survived! I finally reached the hostel. But the hostel wasn’t open! I waited like 30-45min and rang the bell like a zillion times before somebody answered and let me in. Well, its not all bad stuff. Because I was waiting outside the hostel, I met this girl from New York, Dana. She’s a nice girl. So basically I would be going to places in SF with her. Just when I thought that all’s well, 4 deadly flight of stairs appeared infront of me. I’m actually supposed to carry my entire luggage up all the way to the 4th storey. Trust me, the 4 flight of stairs are seriously, totally, honestly DEADLY!!

Right after we settled down in the hostel, we made our way to Chinatown, Coit Tower (where you’re supposed to be able to overlook a large part or probably the whole of SF) and the ‘crookedest’ road. (which really is very crooked. I wonder whether they did it on purpose so that it would become a SF attraction.)

*the crookedest road*

*i think americans love GPS. they have GPS everywhere! they even have GPS in the malls*

We went back to the hostel quite early cuz I wasn’t feeling too well. Food poisoning I guess. Been conquering the toilet for like every 10min. puking and diarrhoea, whatever you can think of.

Felt quite bad to Dana. Cuz of me, she had to come back to the hostel early.

Day 3 (16th July 07)
We got chased out of our rooms!! They said that they don’t have any more available rooms and made us move out. Madness! Thus, I went to reason with them saying that I did make a reservation and its not my fault that they forgot to process it. *argh*
Hence, in the end, they moved us to the STOREROOM! -_-“ To make it worse, they actually expect us to pay the full price for the hostel for that miserable-not-even-enclosed-space. bish! But well, we gave in of course and paid the full price as it would definitely be better than being homeless. (however, if its not so cold outside, I might have seriously considered sleeping out in the parks or something. Hahaha) But they said that they would be able to move me up into a room tml once the ppl have checked out. So its not so bad lah.

We were supposed to go the South Markets where its supposed to have many cool little shops but since my food poisoning seem to take the worse and I can hardly walk, we took a MUNI (bus) to Haight Ashbury Street instead. It’s a cool street! With all the street art and cool alternative shops. Too bad my camera was out of batt, couldn’t take many pictures. Haiiiii

*as they say, shades are the best accessory*

These are the pics I took just before my camera died.

Again, I felt really bad. Cuz we’re supposed to go check out the gay and lesbian neighbourhood tonight but we decided not to as I felt really sick. So sorry, Dana.
I seriously hope I’ll be able to get well by tml. This totally sucks! Argh! Why am I so weak.

Btw, SF is so sooo sooooooo COLD! So different from LV and LA. I think it might be even colder than Yellowstone’s summer.
