Johnny Depp as the crazy, vengeful demon barber of Fleet Street aka Benjamin Barker aka Sweeney Todd + Tim Burton's taking a stab in directing this dark and gloomy plot + Stephen Sondheim's gorgeously bloody musical...
This is sheer madness! Or should i say, an ingenious trio?!
I'm amazed at how Sondheim's music and lyrics could explain the demon barber's intention and reasoning so aptly yet eloquently.
"The lives of the wicked should be made brief. Or the rest of us, death would be a relief."
As for Depp, he's such an interesting person on screen. Not only did he propel the mourning man's melanchony but also with a tinge of a cold Sleepy Hollow ghostliness, rather than just plain hot fury for revenge.
Though the fake, gore, blood-splashing-fountain aint quite my cup of tea (its a lil too fake. kinda reminded me of the Adams Family where the 2 Adams kids staged a play splashing fountains of blood into the audience), you guys should still catch Sweeney Todd! Enter into the dark and gloomy!
