Backpack Taiwan 2008

Part II (On the way to Hualien)

After a fulfilling night of food from Ximending's night market (erms, not exactly fulfilling. but we were damn hungry after we got off the bus) and a whole night of laughter with jan, young and ice, we finally snuggled into bed. Around say 2-3hrs later, its time to be on our way to Hualien.
I think i didnt even managed to clock in 2 hrs of quality sleep. Why? Simply because the guy sleeping on the bed beside mine simply couldnt keep his body to his own space. He actually slept with his arm extended from the edge of his bed and thus almost reaching my bed. (as you can imagine, i'm sleeping in a ultra crammed-up 6-bedder dorm). I couldnt really get to sleep the entire night cuz i was so afraid that the guy will roll over to my territory (although theoretically, its not really possible, but still i was flushed with uneasiness).

and therefore......this is the result.
breakfast @ 6am

at the stall below our hostel.

btw, the 蛋饼rocks! heeeheeee!
(did i forget to mention cheap?)

peeps, meet cui lao shu and the tantalizing 蛋饼s, not forgetting the life-saving coffee!

while waiting for our train to arrive (@ Taipei Train Station)

posing time!

just before the train choo-choos by and attempts to knock me off

"the train's here! Hurry hurry snap the picture!! What are you waiting for?"

Introducing the 2nd best class of train that will bring us straight to Hualien.

lets go! G..O..GO!!

Hualien...HERE WE COME!

a shot before sleep!

(as you can see, i'm all ready and comfortably in position. *hiaks*)

BUT, it was all too difficult to sleep on our first train ride.

so.......laoshu whipped out her lappie and we started entertaining ourselves with her AcerOrbicam

i love this picture! ;)

peace & serenity.

surprised, astonished, whatever you call it.

stupefied! dang!

okays, enough of our pretty little faces.

scenery pics on your way! (but we didnt managed to take any good ones, train moving too fast + our cameras are simply too lousy)

btw, Taroko Gorge is behind those hills!

advancing towards Taroko Gorge!

We've finally reached Hualien!!!!

and there it is, a statue erected specially to welcome backpackers, like us, to the healthy Hualien City! (according to laoshu)

Another (more convincing) shot in justifying this deduction.
