BackPack Taiwan 2008
Part IV (Hualien > Ruisuei)

Long long Hualien Road. A last look at it before we leave for Ruisuei
Hualien Streets, the morning hustle and bustle, yet many times more desirable than in the city centre.
Roadside Hawkers of Hualien.
Kinda remind me of those at Payatas and Erap City.
The 1st Heavenly Wanton we tried!
Initially, we were still unappealed by the plain store front and average appearance of this wanton. But trust me, its nothing like any wanton in Singapore! *drools*
Yummilicious!!
the 24-hr xiao long bao (supposedly to be the top in fame in Hualien), but it aint exactly the kind of xiao long bao i was expecting

see! its not the shanghai tang bao that i adore.
feels more like chicken pau.
Luckily we didnt order alot.

look how big it is!
(i mean both, laoshu's mouth and pau. HAHA)
we finally got to see some "yuan zhu ming"!!
macho machoo young boys! *slurp* HAHAHA
apparently, Hualien has this FREE aboriginal performace every night (or week? cant remember, haha)
(bad shot, i know. couldnt manage to squeeze my way through the crowd infront of me)
and this is our room in Xin-Yi-Min-Su
as you can apparently tell, we had great fun throwing all our stuff around (just to make full use of the room, HAHAHA)
let me introduce 呆呆, it was love at first sight. HAHAHA Never fail to amuse me everytime i look at it!
we're the masked heroines!
dont play play!
this is probably a fraction of our stuff. The remaining 3/4 are lying all over the place

Hualien Bus Station
where we're supposed to catch our bus to Ruisuei for White Water Rafting!
an amusing thing is, an old peh peh (with long, flowy white beard and walking stick those kind) said : "小妹, 登山ah ?"
I was in quite a loss for words for a moment, hahaha
a few min later, i was desperately trying to control my laughter!

all geared up! and so ready for HsiuGuLuanXi White Water Rafting!
a pity there wasnt any pictures taken for us while we were rafting.
But the experience wasnt as shiok as YNP's one.
Although i became the first contestant to fall into the river while dealing with a series of rapids. Had a few cuts from the many rocks, whose scars still refuse to disappear from leg -__-"
The fall was quite shiok, honestly speaking. But shortly after that, i couldnt stop my body trembling due to the cold water + cold wind.
After a long while, our fellow rafters felt a need for a new rush of adrenaline (since the river was pretty calm, probably we came during a wrong season), hence they starting initiating a capsize. And yes, the cold cold water again! Laoshu even got stuck under the raft, which i presume to be extremely frightening!
Then came another period of extreme shaking of the body, this time, with more ppl to acc me.
but the capsize was good, i have to say. HAHA!

a teeny weeny bit of the crazily long HsiuGuLuanXi!

the bridge we are all soooo relieved to see! cuz this meant the end of our rafting journey.
our arms are totally sore from those rowing. 28km?

HAHAHA shiramizu-san's style!
i burst out laughing the moment i saw shiramizu-san strike this pose at Taroko Gorge! Cant even try controlling. HAHAHAHA

In a pavillion, having our bento box lunch and enjoying the scenery
our fellow rafters!
the guy (behind me and laoshu) was currently travelling taiwan on his motorbike, cool!
mother nature is a great artist!
blue sky . blue sea . sheer white rocks

this is lifeeeeeee!!
btw, we ruined the sheer whiteness with some mud from the ground, in an attempt to climb up the rock. *oops*
